Volunteering
Find out more about volunteering opportunities at Oasis Bath.
Volunteering is one of the ways that we fulfil our vision as an organisation – to see a community where everyone is included, making a contribution and reaching their potential. Our approach to volunteering is simple – volunteering shouldn’t just take from you, it should give something to you too. When you volunteer at Oasis it isn’t just about what you can give, it’s also about what you want to learn, develop and receive through your time with us.
Current Opportunities
We’re currently recruiting volunteers for our affordable food pantries in Southdown (Mondays) and the City Centre (Thursdays). We have two teams at each pantry – a morning team who help receive food deliveries and set the pantry up ready for our members, and an afternoon team who help out members to shop, restock the shelves and clear up at the end of the day. To find out more email pantry@oasisbath.org
Church Teams
If you’re part of our church there are loads of opportunities to get involved in making Sundays happen, as well as running groups during the week, virtual volunteering or joining one of our governance groups. We encourage everyone to do at least one volunteering role because we know it’s the best way to feel connected to others, make a difference and learn new skills. To speak to someone about getting involved, email churchadmin@oasisbath.org
Support and Training
To volunteer with us you’ll be asked to complete an application form, which helps us get to know you a bit better. We’ll then make sure you’re fully trained for the role you’re volunteering for, what this looks like will vary from role to role. You’ll always have a project supervisor or team leader with you, and our admin team will also help with things like rotas and technology. If you need any extra support just let us know and we’ll do what we can to provide it. To find out more and start the ball rolling, email welcome@oasisbath.org
“I volunteer at the Pantry. I found it great to meet new people – I’ve made so many new friends, the volunteers are beautiful people. It’s given me a boost of confidence. The knowledge that I’ve gained from volunteering here, has enabled me to apply for and start a job working in the Civil Service. I feel that a lot of this is because of the skills that I’ve learned from volunteering at the pantry.” – Billy.
