Covid-19 Food Parcel Project
The Covid-19 pandemic meant we couldn’t run our holiday hunger project Make Lunch, so we quickly adapted and set up our Food Parcel Project.
Between April and August 2020 we delivered over 700 food parcels to Make Lunch families and others referred to us by community and statutory organisations. We worked in partnership with the Salvation Army who kindly offered us their city centre café for storing and refrigerating food supplied to us from Fareshare South West.
The Salvation Army supplemented our FareShare delivery by paying for a weekly delivery of fresh fruit and vegetables. Waitrose generously donated bags and some ambient food. We initially raised funds through a successful Crowdfunder campaign, and then received funding from Quartet Community Foundation, St John’s Foundation and Sovereign Housing. We couldn’t have done it without our amazing team of 36 volunteers from all over Bath. Watch a short documentary about the project below.
