Oasis Church Bath is part of the wider Oasis family here in the UK and around the world. Read on to find out more on what Oasis stands for and achieves today.
You don’t have to look very far in this world to see the injustice that surrounds us – there’re a lot of people living difficult lives in even more difficult situations.
We don’t think that’s the way it should be, so we’re doing all we can to confront this injustice in practical ways – from pioneering secondary schools in the UK to helping women trapped in prostitution in India.
As part of the Oasis family, we believe that being a ‘hub for the community’ in every way – spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically – is what Jesus had in mind for church to be. Because people matter to God.
In fact, Oasis has been pioneering life-transforming housing, healthcare, education and youth work initiatives in various countries around the globe for thirty years.
We want to see a just and inclusive world, in which everyone (and we mean everyone) has equal opportunity to reach their potential. We’re motivated by our Christian faith to serve people regardless of their faith, ethnicity, sexuality or gender as we work with them to transform communities by promoting inclusion and confronting injustice.
Oasis UK is inspired and motivated by the life, teaching and example of Jesus. It informs our radically inclusive ethos and drives our passionate belief that each human being is equally important, has intrinsic God-given worth and is uniquely valuable. We hope that our five ethos values (or behaviours) of inclusion, relationships, equality, hope and perseverance permeate everything we do and are obvious wherever and whenever you encounter Oasis.
Our five ethos values:
- A passion to include everyone
- A desire to treat everyone equally, respecting differences
- A commitment to healthy and open relationships
- A deep sense of hope that things can change and be transformed
- A sense of perseverance to keep going for the long haul
